Welcome to the Historical Engine Society!

The Historical Engine Society is a “not for profit” corporation whose purpose is to provide a focal point for people interested in machinery that built America. We encourage collection, preservation, and exhibition of power producing devices and the machinery built by these units. Items range from huge steam traction engines to farm tractors and stationary engines.

Club fellowship consists of sharing of knowledge, ideas, and educational programs. Work parties, picnics, and field trips make this a truly family oriented organization. The annual show is a year-round effort, culminating in a gathering of people and their machines.

Visitors are treated to the sights, sounds, and demonstrations of the power of the past.

News

From The President by Dean Kirby

I am happy to take on the role as president of the Historical Engine Society.  As I said at the Membership meeting during the elections, there would be no way I could do this without the help and dedication from Mike, Marc and Sandy and a few other members and directors.   I feel 2010 will be a great show season.  I can’t wait to see everyone again!

Time Change for Meetings

It was decided to change the starting time of the membership and directors meetings.  The membership meetings will now begin at 7:30PM and the directors meetings at 7:00PM.  This change will take effect immediately.

Show Program

We are starting work on the show program for the 40th Antique Power Exhibition.  Advertising rates will be $30 for a business card or 1/8 page ad, $60 for a 1/4 page ad, $100 for a 1/2 page ad, and $200 for a full page ad.  For more information on advertising or how you can help out, please contact Dean Kirby at (440) 669-2578 or by email at deankirby@gmail.com.  We are always looking for help selling ads!

2010 Old Iron Calendar

HES is once again selling the Old Iron antique tractor calendar.  The price for the calendars is $10 each.  Calendars are available at meetings and HES events.

Christmas Party Report by Sandy Paterek

We had a great time at the Christmas Party, lots of friends, food, and the Christmas spirit.  Approximately 60 people attended, the weather cooperated although it was a chilly day.  Members did some story swapping, visited with those we do not see very often and ate a wonderful variety of food.  We had a 50/50 raffle won by Pat Brockway, and a table raffle of miscellaneous items.  We hope to see you next year.

Membership Cards

The 2010 membership cards will be mailed out within the next few weeks.  This is your gate pass to the 40th Antique Power Exhibition, so make sure it does not get misplaced.

2010 Raffle

The 2010 raffle tractor has been purchased and restoration is currently underway.  This year’s tractor is another 1955 Massey Ferguson TO-35, a few months newer than last year.  Owen Gingerich has once again donated the use of his shop for the project.  As said in the last newsletter, please contact David Metcalf at (440) 667-9860 for information on how you can help with this project.
